How to Spring Clean Your Car
Spring is considered one of the most beautiful seasons. It comes as a breath of fresh air after the cold, gray winter. It is such a relaxing sight to see the ice melt away with the advent of the soft spring sun. The plants and trees come back to life, the weather is cheerful, and there is so much color all around. This kind of warm and welcoming weather definitely gets you into the mood for a long drive, but hang on — did you spring clean your car?
1. Get Rid of Accumulated Dirt
First and foremost it is important to get rid of all the dirt and grime that has accumulated on your car throughout winter. Get a good car wash or shampoo to not only make your car’s exterior look better, but also to protect your car’s paint from getting ruined due to corrosion and rust. Always use a specially formulated wash or shampoo that is meant for cars. Normal household cleaners cannot do the job and might affect your car’s paint. Also, only a specially formulated shampoo can clean the mud, road grit, and salt that builds up on your car throughout winter.
2. Make Your Car Shine
The cold and darkness of winter have passed and now that spring is here, it is time to give your car’s exterior a nice shine to match the season. To get a good shine, use a quality, long-lasting wax. This will ensure that your car’s paint stays protected all spring. Car wax not only prevents dirt buildup but protects the car’s paint from fading in the sun, too.
3. Clear Clutter from Your Car
We are all guilty of leaving things in the car and then forgetting all about them, no matter how tidy you are. Over the course of winter, a lot of things like coats, boots, ice scrapers and many other things that you do not need in spring or summer get left in your car. If your car is weighed down with a bunch of unnecessary items, it could affect your gas mileage, costing you more money. So, instead of spending extra bucks uselessly, use the season of spring to free up space in your car that you forgot that you actually had. After all, spring is also the season to declutter!
4. Freshen Up the Interior
When you spring clean your car, don’t neglect the interior of your car, because a lot of dirt gets stored in there, too. Use a vacuum cleaner to clean the interior of your car. You can also use a fabric and upholstery cleaner to clean the dirt and stains from the fabric. Doing this not only makes your car’s interior look clean, but also ensures that the materials last longer.
These are a few things that you can do to spring clean your car.
