Tips and Tricks to Get Your Vehicle Ready for Tailgating Season

Football season is finally here! Sports fans all over the country are preparing to cheer on their favorite teams and enjoy tailgate parties with their friends. The car is the star of every tailgate party. Here are some tips and tricks to get your vehicle ready for tailgating season.

Add a Barbeque to your Trailer Hitch

A tailgate party is incomplete without a barbeque. You can give your vehicle a tailgate makeover by adding a towing hitch tailgating grill. This way, you won’t need to load the grill inside the truck bed. With an attached grill, you can easily convert the parking space into your personal barbeque pit. Some of these grills come with a pushbutton ignition, small tables, and everything you need to cook a grand feast to celebrate your team’s victory.

Paint the Trunk Area

The truck bed can be used to sleep or set up a tent. In most cases, it is used to sleep comfortably at night. You should keep the bed area clean and tidy. You can paint the trunk with colorful spray-on bed liners, or cover the area with tailgate mats or rubber floor mats.

Tailgate Accessories

Getting into a truck bed is not easy for everyone. Consider buying tailgate steps or ladders that will help others access the party. You can also purchase tailgate lamp covers that will not only protect the lights, but also add style to your ride.

Fridge and Coolers

Tailgate parties are all about food. If you don’t want to spend the whole time at the grill, cook as much as you can before leaving your home. Make sure the food is nicely packed and stored in a fridge or cooler inside your car.  You can opt for a mobile cargo cooler or a trunk organizer with a cooler to safely stow away food items. Simple ice chests can be used to store beverages.

TV and Sound System for Cars

You can’t watch the game from the parking lot without a TV. You can find TVs and sound systems specifically designed for cars. Don’t forget to pick up a portable satellite antenna to make sure you see every moment of the game.

Outdoor Accessories

Too much sunshine or rain can wreck the spirit of any tailgate party. Make sure to carry pop-up auto umbrellas, awnings, or shelters that can protect you rain or shine.

Team Logos to Show Allegiance

While tailgating, you may see cars painted with team colors or logos. This is a great way to get in the spirit! You can buy rubber mats, wheel covers, and dashboard covers with your favorite team logos. If that’s not enough, you can buy vinyl team logos that can adhere to sides of the vehicle.

Storage Bags and Paper Towels

Always carry storage bags in your vehicle. This is a great place to keep leftovers and to collect trash to throw away after the party. You’ll also need paper towels to clean up grease and oil, since cloth towels don’t absorb oil as well.

These tips will help you have the best experience during tailgating season. Make sure your vehicle is in good condition and you’ve finished any maintenance you need before you get on your way.
